justine davies


Justine Davies, a medical cardiologist, focuses on improving equitable access to quality healthcare, particularly in diseases amenable to surgery and cardiovascular diseases. She examines the clinical and socio-economic consequences of providing these platforms of care. Justine is a Professor of Global Health at Birmingham University and Visiting Prof at KCL (UK) and Wits University (South Africa). Her research includes epidemiology, health service assessment, predictive modeling, economics, and implementation science.

She currently works with partners in Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Malawi, South Africa, and Ethiopia to ensure capacity building. Justine Davies has been published in The Lancet Commission on Global Surgery and The Lancet Commission on Women and Health; she co-led The Lancet D&E Commission on Diabetes in sub-Saharan Africa.
